Montpellier
This lively university city in the south of France is known for its sunny weather. It features the Old Town named l’Ecusson, the Place de la Comedie, Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulles, and the Montepellier Cathedral.
Avignon
Avignon is located on the Rhone River and was the seat of the Catholic popes from 1309-1377. The Palais des Papes is in the city center, surrounded by medieval stone ramparts.
St. Remey
St. Remey is known as the place where Vincent Van Gogh produced some of his most famous works while institutionalized at the St. Paul de Mausole. There are also many old fountains, shady squares, picturesque restaurants and elegant boutiques throughout the city, as well as one of the oldest archeological sites in Europe.
Arles
Arles was once a provincial capital of ancient Rome and is known for many remains from that era, such as the Arles Ampitheatre, Alyscamps, the Roman theatre, and the Montmajour Abbey. It also inspired many of Van Gogh’s paintings.
Marseille
Marseille is a port city in southern France. The heart of the city is the Vieux-Port, where fishmongers sell their catches. Impressive sights include the Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde, Le Corbusier’s influential Cite Radieuse complex and Zaha Hadid’s CMA CGM Tower.
St. Tropez
This coastal town is located on the French Riviera in south France and is known for its beaches and nightlife. Sights to see include the Musee d’Histoire Maritime, the Old Town, and Eglise Paroissiale Notre Dame d l’Assomption.
Nice
Nice is one of the most popular destinations on the French Riviera. It features many works by Henri Matisse, the Walkway of the English, the Old Town, the Marc Chagall Museum, and Castle Hill.
